Day 42: Lionville Historic Sites Open
The Uwchlan Meeting House, John Cadwalader House and the Edith P. Moore Schoolhouse located in the Lionville National Historic District, will be open to the public on Sunday, July 4, from 2 to 4 p.m.
The Edith P. Moore Schoolhouse has a working water pump and is filled with old books, desks, etc. Visitors may ring the old school bell and hand-pump water.
The Cadwalader House is the oldest building in Uwchlan Township. John Calwalader built the original log structure in 1711. During July, the John Cadwalader House features a collection of early lighting devices.
The Uwchlan Meeting House was built in 1756 by the Society of Friends and has served the community for 250 years.
The Uwchlan Township Historical Commission holds open houses at these sites on the first Sunday of month from 2 to 4 p.m. through November. The buildings are located on North Village Avenue off of Route 113 in Lionville.
