So you’ve made the decision, it’s time to buy a house. Now what ? If you are like many other people, you have many questions about what to do next.
- Do you find Open Houses and go see them?
- Do you find someone to work with as a Buyer Agent?
- Do you talk to a mortgage company?
- Do you figure out how much your budget is on a house payment?
- Do you drive around the areas you are considering living?
- Do you research the taxes, school districts, shopping, hospitals, transportation where you’d like to move?
- Do you start searching online for all of the homes listed for sale and pick the ones you think you’d like to live in?
If you answered yes to the questions above, you are correct ! All of the above is true.
The very best place to start is to talk to an agent that you are interested in working together in finding you your home. You will probably work very closely with the agent, so make sure you feel comfortable sharing details and spending time with him/her. The agent will then be able to help you narrow down the to-do list for you.
Often times when working with first time home buyers, I like to sit down at the office and talk together for about an hour. We’ll talk about the process of looking and finding the perfect home for you as well as discuss the areas and any concerns or questions you may have. Again, you spend a lot of time together….. so it’s important you get along.
Keep in mind, when you mention you are thinking about a real estate transaction (buy or sell) you’ll find that everyone and their sister’s cousin’s friend’s mother has some advice for you. Be aware, listen, and always discuss with your agent if you are unsure. Most agents are very professional and have the latest education and knowledge with your best interests at hand.
Psssst you don’t pay to have an agent with our team working for you to look for a home – no catch !!! If you are looking to move in the Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware County area – don’t forget the agents with The Kim Wood Team! We try to match the agent with the buyer to better serve you! Kim, Tom, Sandy, and John all have availability to assist more buyers as of today. We would be happy to talk via phone (610-692-6823 direct or 610-692-2228 main) , email, or an in person meeting if you are considering a move.
